Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 15, 2026 · Applies to: the KEISHIKI app for macOS, iOS, and iPadOS
This Privacy Policy explains what information Keisuke Uemura ("we," "us," or "our") collects through KEISHIKI (the "app"), how we use it, and the choices available to you. If you have any questions, please contact us at the address below before using the app.
1. Overview
- KEISHIKI works fully offline by default. Unless you create an account, we never collect or store anything you write.
- Creating an account is optional and is used only to sync your manuscripts across your own devices.
- We never sell your personal information to third parties, and we never use your writing to train machine learning models.
- The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect the email address you provide solely to send one-time sign-in codes and to send required account-related notices, such as about an email address change or account deletion.
- Manuscript content. If you sign in and enable sync, your body text, chapter/section structure, memos, and attached images or PDF files are sent to and stored on our servers so they can be synced across your devices. If you do not create an account, this content never leaves your device.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the sync feature, we process technical information necessary to operate the service (such as request timestamps, approximate data size, and error logs) solely for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the service. We do not use this information for advertising-related profiling, and the app includes no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
2.3 Purchase information
If you purchase a paid storage plan, payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store's in-app purchase system. We receive only a cryptographically signed confirmation indicating which plan was purchased; we never receive or process your credit card or other payment details directly. Please refer to Apple's own privacy policy for how it handles payment information.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- To provide core app functionality, such as signing in and syncing across devices
- To maintain the safety and integrity of the service, such as preventing unauthorized access
- To apply the storage limits associated with your plan
- To send necessary communications, such as sign-in codes, security notices, or changes to this policy
- To respond to inquiries you send us
- To comply with applicable law
We never use the content of your manuscripts for advertising, profiling, or training AI models. We do not view the content of your manuscripts except where reasonably necessary to respond to your own inquiry or where required by law.
4. Where Data Is Stored
Synced data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region, Japan. If you use the app from outside Japan, your information will be transferred to and processed in Japan. By creating an account and enabling sync, you consent to this transfer. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, such as encrypting communications and restricting access to production systems, but we cannot guarantee 100% security of any method of transmission or storage.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
Synced account data is retained for as long as your account remains active. You can delete individual manuscripts from within the app at any time. From account settings, you can also permanently delete your account and the associated data on our servers (deletion generally cannot be undone). If you never create an account, your data never leaves your device, so there is nothing retained on our servers.
The app also includes an export feature (Settings → Export), independent of your account or our servers, that saves a human-readable copy of your entire library to your own device. We recommend using it regularly as your own backup.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA). Many of these rights — exporting your library, changing your account email, or deleting your account — can be exercised directly within the app. For any other request, please contact us at the address below, and we will respond within a reasonable time in accordance with applicable law.
7. Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following infrastructure providers to operate the app. These providers process data on our behalf and do not use your data for their own purposes.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting, authentication, and storage for the sync feature
- Apple Inc. — App Store distribution and in-app purchase processing
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app or by email. Continuing to use the app after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
